Julia B. Stohr (1895-1979) (Julia Roe is primary known as Julia Stohr)
Born in St Paul, MN on March 19, 1895. Stohr studied with Simon and Méénard in Paris and at the ASL in NYC with Henri and Bellows who regarded her so highly they sponsored her first exhibition. Stohr settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1915 and the following year was a member of the faculty of the Carmel Arts & Crafts Club. She further studied under Armin Hansen and was active in the local art scene as a teacher and portrait painter. Before 1925 she married Robert Roe and lived in Monterey's. Passed away in 1979, Trenton, NJ.
