Author: Wright, Frank Lloyd

Description: "Reproduced from a tape of Mr. Wright's talk, July 1, 1953, at Short Course in Photo-Journalism, University of Wisconsin. You have to be rather suspicious in this kind of an atmosphere, you know... I'm one of those fellows that has been on the off side of press photography for about 60 years. I've seen almost every angle of it, and I think I've been the victim of more good and bad photographers than perhaps anybody here -- I don't see so many grey heads. I'm talking to about Press Photography. There is such a thing, and up to about three years ago it was something terrible. It's taking a little better turn now; especially in the magazines. I think during the last two years, or the last three years, photography has been much less stilted; much less candid, so to speak, and much less posed..." Original cover price $1.25.

Author: Faurot, Louis

Description: "Studies In Structure. Imaginative Photographers Probe Exciting, New Designs of Modern Architects and Discover Source for Interesting Camera Studies.
The startlingly original buildings designed by men like Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier, Mies Van der Rohe have changed the appearance of the world's landscape. The sweeping curves, unbroken ribbons of glass, the crisp vertical and horizontal lines herald new concepts in design.
The creative photographer is an architect with a camera. While working methods differ, both have the same basic interest in line, form and texture. The two work towards a common goal, that of creating the harmonious pattern which is considered good composition or design.
The architect builds into space and his work is three-dimensional; he is concerned not only with the geometric symmetry of his design but its functional qualities as well. An architectural photographer..."
